Vertical videos make it harder for audiences to watch videos. Unlike a picture, you can't always turn a video sideways to make it easier to watch. If vertical videos were to become more common, we would have to adapt everything to fit that format; filming vertically, thinking of ways to fit everything in a vertical shot, and even changing our screens to fit vertical formatting, are all possible things that would change.
